OVERVIEW

Become a part of our A Glimpse of Africa Annual Cultural Festival for August 9th - August 11th at Calder Plaza, Grand Rapids Michigan. The largest African cultural festival in West Michigan, filled with African clothing, talents, food, music and games! REGISTRATION AND PAYMENT SHOULD BE COMPLETED BY July 1st, 2024. Failure to pay on time may result in removal from the show.

Festival Details:

Location: Calder Plaza: 525 Ottawa Ave NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49503

Day 1: Date & Time: Friday, August 9th 3:00pm - 10:00pm

Day 2: Date & Time: Saturday, August 12 10:30 am - 11:00pm
Day 2: Date & Time: Sunday, August 13 10:30 am- 5:30pm

Cost

Showcase Designs & Sell products-
personal tent: $350

  • We will be coordinating Models on your behalf including casting, communication, coaching and styling

  • We will provide  booths/tents where the models can dress/ and do the fitting on the  festival  ground.

  • ​Your designer collection will have media/Video coverage on stage.

  • You will have 1 to 3 minutes on stage to share something about your brand.

  • You can showcase 7-12  looks.

  • You will have access to up to 12 Models and can bring up to 4 of your own Models.

  • ​You will receive a 10 x10 tent that you can use to sell your products during the event

  • You will be getting before and after event brand promotion on the A Glimpse of Africa Social Media, Flyers and other media.

  • Designers will bring their own tent.

Showcase Designs & Sell products-AGOA tent: $400

  • We will be coordinating Models on your behalf including casting, communication, coaching and styling

  • We will provide  booths/tents where the models can dress/ and do the fitting on the  festival  ground.

  • ​Your designer collection will have media/Video coverage on stage.

  • You will have 1 to 3 minutes on stage to share something about your brand.

  • You can showcase 7-12  looks.

  • You will have access to up to 12 Models and can bring up to 4 of your own Models.

  • ​You will receive a 10 x10 tent that you can use to sell your products during the event

  • You will be getting at least 1 social media post(branding promotion)before the event and one social media post after the Event  

  • We will add your brand and contact info/QR code in program brochure 

  • Designer rents a tent from AGOA

Showcase Your Designs (no booth): $175

  • We will be coordinating Models on your behalf including casting, communication, coaching and styling.  

  • We will provide  booths/tents where the models can dress/ and do the fitting on the  festival  ground.

  • ​Your designer collection will have media/Video coverage on stage

  • You will have 1 to 3 minutes on stage to share something about your brand.

  • You can showcase 7-12  looks.

  • You will have access to up to 12 Models and can bring up to 4 of your own Models.

  • You will be getting at least 1 social media post(branding promotion)before the event and one social media post after the Event  

  • We will add your brand and contact info/QR code in program brochure 

  • No Booth Provided

Tent Weight requirement:

Vendors  bringing their own 10*10 tent must meet the required guidelines including having tent weights which include a minimum of 25 pounds for each corner (100 pound weights minimum). Tents weights are available for rent for $25

What kind of clothing line would you be showcasing?(Select all that Apply)

Designers Requirements:

Fashion Designers will attend at least one model casting event. If you are unable to make it, please email us at ana.aglimpseofafrica@gmail.com ahead of time.

70% of your collection must be African inspired clothing

Must submit desired music selection to the A Glimpse of Africa fashion team by July 22nd, 2024.

Designers are recommended to also market and advocate the A Glimpse of Africa festival on social media, tag the event and show on their post related to being part of the show.

Designers will coordinate their own professional models’ makeup.

Designers agrees that AGOA will have the right in perpetuity to use the Model’s name, image, and likeness in connection with credits, business uses, advertising and publicity for AGOA.

Must pay agreed fees within the required time (listed above)

Fashion Designers Expectation from Producers:

Producers provides additional models, if needed

Producer provides music/entertainment.

Producer will provide the platform to help sell designer clothing.

Producer provides after event marketing using media gathered at the event.

We will provide dressing tents and coaching for models who need it.

A platform and the opportunity to promote your brand on  Stage and through the event

Minor Participation Waiver

This is to certify that I, as a parent/guardian, with legal responsibility for this participant, have read and explained the provisions in this waiver/ release to my child. / ward including the risks of presence and participation and his/her personal responsibilities for adhering to the rules and regulations for protection against communicable diseases. Furthermore, my child/ward understands and accepts these risks and responsibilities.  I for myself, my spouse, and child/ward do consent and agree to his/her release provided above for all the Releases and myself, my spouse, and child/ward do release and agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Releases for any and all liabilities incident to my minor child's / ward's presence or participation in these activities as provided above, EVEN IF ARISING FROM THEIR NEGLIGENCE, to the fullest extent provided by law.

Performer ACCIDENT WAIVER AND RELEASE OF LIABILITY FORM

This Release and Waiver of Liability (the “release”) releases A Glimpse of Africa and each of its partners, officers, employees, volunteers, and agents. The designers desires to  participate at A Glimpse of Africa on Friday, August 9th 2024 - Sunday August 11th , 2024 (‘Event”).

In consideration of my application and permitting me to participate in this activity, I hereby take action for myself, my executors, administrators, heirs, next of kin, successors, and assigns as follows:

(A) I WAIVE, RELEASE, AND DISCHARGE from any and all liability, including but not limited to, liability arising from the negligence or fault of Hoopla Productions, any claims or damages for my death, disability, personal injury, property damage, property theft, or actions of any kind which may hereafter occur to me including my traveling to and from this activity, THE FOLLOWING ENTITIES OR PERSONS: A Glimpse of Africa and each of its partners, officers, employees, volunteers, and agents;

(B) I INDEMNIFY, HOLD HARMLESS, AND PROMISE NOT TO SUE the entities or persons mentioned in this Release from any and all liabilities or claims made as a result of participation in this activity, whether caused by the negligence or fault of Hoopla Productions.

I acknowledge that A Glimpse of Africa and each of its partners, officers, employees, volunteers, and agents are NOT responsible for the errors, omissions, acts, or failures to act of any third party or entity conducting a specific activity at or during the Event.

I understand while participating in this activity, I may be photographed or filmed. I agree to allow my photo, video, or film likeness to be used for any legitimate purpose by A Glimpse of Africa and each of its partners, officers, employees, volunteers, and agents and their successors and/or assigns.

The Accident Waiver and Release of Liability Form shall be construed broadly to provide a release and waiver to the maximum extent permissible under applicable law.

Alcohol is not permitted at A Glimpse of Africa Festival  without written consent from the A Glimpse of Africa Festival.  Smoking is prohibited in all facilities within the premises.   If an designers  arrives at the event noticeably under the influence of intoxicating beverages, narcotics, or drugs, the A Glimpse of Africa Festival may cancel the Agreement at its sole discretion and with no liability whatsoever.

Additional festival  rules and regulations:  

Familiarize with the park and the stage before the event date.

Arrive at the park exactly as requested/advised by the fashion show manager

Artist/volunteers/designers engaging in disorderly behavior, drinking, public intoxication, illegal drug use or any other deviant behavior will not be allowed to participate and will risk being removed from the festival grounds or reported accordingly.

Be Courteous and respectful to others  (no fights or confrontations)

Designers  must complete one or two trail runs/rehearsal

Designs must meet the criteria described above and must be appropriate: Examples of what is not acceptable: (Nudity, designs that expose underwear, clothing with political slogans or logos )
 

Agreement

I CERTIFY THAT I HAVE READ THIS DOCUMENT AND I FULLY UNDERSTAND ITS CONTENT. I AM AWARE THAT THIS DOCUMENT IS A RELEASE OF LIABILITY AND A CONTRACT AND I ACKNOWLEDGE AND AGREE TO ITS TERMS.
